NatureCounters are delighted to be hosting the only official Elekon full-day training course in the UK this year.
Please e-mail Janna at Naturecounters.com for more information. Thank-you
Participants should bring their own laptop or notebook with Batexplorer 1.11.3 preinstalled.
We will be hosting the course here at the beautiful Old Rectory, Boughton Malherbe in Kent to give a lovely relaxed, friendly learning environment. The course will be given by Eric Jansen from Zoogdiervereniging in the Netherlands and Marco Gumprich from Elekon.
The course will be 6 hours long. Different items will be presented:
- Setting up the batlogger
- Settings of batexplorer
- How the batexplorer software works
- Basic knowledge of sound analysis
- How to check the call measurements
- How to verify species suggestions
- How to use the filters
- How to export your own data
Many things will be hands on, except for the last 4 items, there will be 3-5 exercises.
At the start we check the level of experience of every participant. We use both good and poor recordings to have a realistic representation of recording made by volunteers. We will also show some rarer species, which can easily be recognized by less experienced batworkers.
NatureCounters are hosting this course on a non-profit basis, purely as a customer service. The attendance fee is to cover the costs of Eric as trainer only, and should there be any surplus, this will be donated to the Bat Conservation Trust.
